Open issues included information on the training academy through the Animal Legal Defense Fund of Oregon.  Information can be obtained through Jackie Beckstead.  Satellite classes are also available.

Darla from Albany was the designer of the new logo.  Jim will e-mail the logo to all members within two weeks of today to get response and take vote on whether the logo will be officially approved for use.  He indicated that no response to his e-mail would indicate a yes vote.

New business included a discussion of legislative issues.  Jim Dohr met with Drew Moore and Kelley Peterson from the Humane Society of the U.S. on Monday.  Discussion covered legislation for animals in disaster, mandatory microchip and working with the American Red Cross providing temporary shelter for humans with animals during a disaster.

Lee Bartholomew discussed the proposal for training academy for the Oregon Animal Control Council.  The Council would like to work in conjunction with the DPSST to offer training for Animal Control and Welfare Professionals throughout the state.  The proposal was listed in the last newsletter.  Lee suggested that the Council reach several agencies for input.  Scott Beckstead with the Animal Legal Defense Fund, North West School of Law at Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Student Animal Legal Defense at Lewis & Clark, National Center for Animal Law.

Quarterly training will be in March or April and proposal was made by Jim that the training will cover Media Relations.

The next meeting will be held the second week of January in Salem when training by the Oregon Department of Agriculture will sponsor training.  A motion to adjourn was given by Lee Bartholomew, and seconded by Todd McKnight.  The meeting was closed by a unanimous vote at 1400 hrs.

Respectfully Submitted,
